(Long time, no write, but I’m still around :))
At an unnamed local coffee shop, I observed a family (of 2 adults and 2 pre-teen kids) having lunch. They had lunch with donuts to finish…. very nice!
The thing I wish to comment on is that ALL of them were interacting with their phones during lunch. ALL of them spoke only when necessary (eg. to talk about what is on their phone or to choose what kind of donut they wanted). ALL of them presented long periods of silence (by interacting with their phones) by NOT ummm…. talking! (to each other).
Of course, humble reader, you can see where I’m going this…
Is the mobile phone that attractive that we cant put it down and just talk to each other? Is it not polite/etiquette to put the phone away when talking with others at a table? Especially when you are sitting down as a family at dinner or at the local coffee shop?
Is the mobile phone the new social disease that prevents/resticts us from talking to others, even family?
I am at your mercy dear reader…
I invite your comments.
