At an unnamed takeaway food shop I noticed a sign saying “We are kind to the environment”.
I also noted the following:
Their food was wrapped in aluminium foil – aluminium found by digging the earth for the metal and made in a smelter run by coal or gas
The food was then placed in a paper bag made by cutting down the forest
The register was run on electricity – generated by a power plant run on coal or gas
The food was paid for by plastic, plastic made of or from crude oil, gas or coal (https://www.thomasnet.com/articles/plastics-rubber/how-is-plastic-made/)
On the way out I thanked them for caring for the environment.
They said “our pleasure”.
